General Information

What is ELAC? ELAC stands for English Learner Advisory Committee. The ELAC advises the principal and staff on the school’s program for English Learners, including instructional and support needs and is required by the Education Code. The ELAC meets several times throughout the year to discuss the current and upcoming needs of our English Learners. The ideas, concerns, and feedback gathered at ELAC meetings are shared with the school and district in order to better support the programs and progress of our EL students. ELAC meetings are also an opportunity for parents to receive information or training on school-related items, such as: CELDT testing, ELPAC testing, utilizing Infinite Campus, navigating the school website, supporting your child with homework, and other various topics.

Why ELAC? Parents of English Learners are able to provide essential insight into the successes and struggles of their students. By participating in ELAC, successes can be shared and celebrated and concerns can be brought forward to be addressed. Students are positively impacted when they see their parents involved in school. Their academic performance has been shown to increase, as well as their attitude. Together, we can ensure our English Learner’s educational experience is productive and rewarding.

When and Where? Our ELAC meetings are held on campus in the MPR or conference room. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, February 7th from 12:00-1:00 in Room 31.
